Overview
Seeking responsible mature adults to assist busy pet sitting company caring for dogs and cats. Must be available for mid-day dog walks Monday-Friday and for some early mornings, evenings and weekends. Also must be available on holidays. This would be a supplemental income – work is not guaranteed every week. Primary duties are walking dogs and feeding/cleaning up after pets and playing with dogs and cats in Bloomington. May be required to administer medications.
Qualifications
Experience caring for multiple breeds of dogs and cats including pit bulls
Physical strength to walk and control large breed dogs
Ability to lift large bags of dog food and cat litter containers
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to text and email daily
Must be well organized, work independently and pay close attention to details
Willingness to work in all weather conditions
Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Priority given to those with previous pet sitting, kennel or vet tech experience
Must pass background check
Must sign confidentiality and non-compete agreements
Job
Care of dogs and cats in Bloomington and Monroe County. Primary duties will include providing fresh food and water, walking dogs and picking up their waste, scooping or cleaning litter boxes, and playing with animals. Additional duties may include bringing in mail, newspapers and packages; taking trash cans to street and bringing them back in. Sitter should be comfortable administering medication to dogs and cats. Must communicate details of each visit with supervisor and/or pet owners. Must be able/willing to follow precise instructions for pampered pets, pay close attention to detail and be reliable and punctual.
Hours
Primary hours, when assignments are available, will be 11am-2pm weekdays. Additional hours may be available at various times of day weekdays and weekends. Sitters must be available on holidays
Status
Pet sitter will be classified as an independent contractor for Bloomington Pet Pals. Hours will vary by week and month depending on need. Work is not guaranteed every week. When assignments are available, they will be offered and sitter has the option of accepting or rejecting jobs. As independent contractor, individual is not a typical employee entitled to any benefits other than payment for assignments completed or supplies provided by business. Bloomington Pet Pals will provide liability insurance and bond for sitters.
